GIVING
Giving
about it, a few scriptures came to my mind.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 But remember this—if you give little, you will get little. A
farmer who plants just a few seeds will get only a small crop, but if he plants
much, he will reap much. Everyone must make up his own mind as to how much
he should give. Don’t force anyone to give more than he wants to, for
cheerful givers are the ones God prizes.
1 Chronicles 17:1 After David had been living in his new palace for some time, he
said to Nathan the prophet, “Look! I’m living here in a cedar-paneled home while
The Ark of the Covenant of God is out there in a tent!” The story of David building
the temple for God. To be honest I haven't found a specific scripture about the
tithe in the New Testament (If you find one let me know 😊)
We make investments in what we see as value & we spend our money on our
priorities most of the time, As I look at the life of David, we can see David was
truly a man after God's own heart.
David gathered gold silver etc... to build the house of God even though his son
Solomon built the temple instead of him. I think we can all see that trying to cut
corners reflects what is on the inside, the bible is always true where your treasure
is, is where your heart will be also.
David's heart treasured the Lord and because of that, his reward was everlasting.
Let's look at the rest of the story 1 Chronicles 17:7-14
“Tell my servant David, ‘The Lord of heaven says to you, I took you from being a shepherd and made you the king of my people. And I have been with you everywhere you’ve gone; I have destroyed your enemies, and I will make your name as great as the greatest of the earth. And I will give my people Israel a permanent home and plant them in their land. They will not be disturbed again; the wicked nations won’t conquer them as they did before when the judges ruled them. I will subdue all of your enemies. And I now declare that I will cause your descendants to be kings of Israel just as you are.
“‘When your time here on earth is over and you die, I will place one of your sons upon your throne; and make his kingdom strong. He is the one who shall build me a temple, and I will establish his royal line of descent forever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son; I will never remove my mercy and love from him as I did from Saul. I will place him over my people and over the kingdom of Israel forever—and his descendants will always be kings.’”
I want to have a heart like David invest in the house of the Lord, and make
sure, as my own house is flourishing, my desire is to make sure the house of God
is flourishing as well.
